Ustyurt region.

Monday, June 25, 2012 - Seoul-based Korea Gas Corporation (Kogas) said it put out a tender to process seismic survey information of an investment block it holds in northern Uzbekistan, local media reported Sunday.

The winning firm will be expected to process 2D seismic data gathered on the Uzunkui and Tuaryk oil and gas territory in the country’s least studied region of Ustyurt.

Kogas has exclusive rights to develop any deposits found within the block whose prospective gas resources are thought to be around 1.7 trillion cubic meters and crude reserves of 1.9 billion tons.

The 2D survey project involves drilling two wells and collecting geological data on some 1,000 linear kilometers of area at a total cost of $22 million.

The tender will be open to July 16, the Interfax news agency reported. The winner will be announced in August 2012, it said.
