Kyrgyz economy minister in Dubai to encourage investment

Sariev is in Dubai to drum up interest in investing in Kyrgyz business

Thursday, May 03, 2012 - Kyrgyz Economy Minister Temir Sariev is in Dubai to drum up investment in Kyrgyz industrial sectors.

Sariev visited the emirate to participate in Dubai’s Annual Investment Forum 2012, and met with key members of Dubai’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In talks with His Excellency Rashid Al Mazroei and His Excellency Hamad Buamim, Sariev urged investment in Kyrgyzstan’s hydropower sector, as well as in its gold and tourism sectors.

Dubai-based businesses are also welcome to develop the Kyrgyz aluminum, mining, and food processing sectors, Sariev said.

Kyrgyzstan is an excellent place to invest due to its inexpensive labor and low taxes, Sariev said.

Dubai is prepared to host an investment forum later this year to encourage greater investment in Kyrgyzstan, Buamim said.

Kyrgyzstan is a draw for investors, as its location offers investors a regional consumer base of over two billion people, he added.

Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev is expected to visit Dubai in the fall.
